Shortlist 2013
Some of our non-commercial work made for fun (and occasionally an exhibition or commission).
Objective
Raise money to provide relief for post-quake Japan.
Thinking
A bake sale, advertising style.
Execution
We branded 50 large Rice Krispies Squares as SUPERHAPPYFANTASTICSQUARES! with custom designed wrapping paper and sold them to our coworkers for $10 each. We asked Cossette to match our funds raised. Together we raised $1260.
Inspired the success of the idea, we created SUPERHAPPYFANTASTICSQUARES.COM. The site was an online DIY kit for making your own Super Happy Fantastic Squares fundraiser, it was also a hub for social media sharing. We also promoted the site on blogs where we thought people who like to bake would hang out (e.g. chowhounds.com). People spread the word about the campaign all the way to Amsterdam.
We also created a series of business card sized flyers to promote the website. We left stacks of the cards in places where we thought charitable people would be – mostly vegetarian restaurants and yoga studios (hippies).
